– Daemen just gives me a lot of opportunities that I wouldn’t have gotten anywhere else.
And you start to know faculty and staff and they’ll say hi to you or talk to you in the hall.
You can make yourself known to your teachers and friends or whoever you want and that’s gonna put you so much farther.
My name is Cadence Russell and I am studying natural sciences and environmental science with minors in history, biology, and global and local sustainability.
I was very unsure what, you know, my experience at college was gonna look like.
It’s been simultaneously nothing that I expected and everything that I did.
I’m not the person I was when I, you know, left Texas.
That’s been really awesome cause I’ve gotten the freedom to grow and become my own person.
It’s a learning curve and it’s been a, you know, in my opinion, a very good learning curve.
There’s a lot of fun things that you do, a lot of people that you’re gonna meet, experiences that you’re gonna have that are really worthwhile
to being in college.
I was so worried about choosing a college because it’s so, it’s such a big deal and it could be the decision you’re making for the next four years or however many years of where you’re gonna go and that’s stressful.
It’s hard to figure that out.
You have to recognize that it’s gonna be okay, it’s gonna be different and embrace those differences and embrace the different people around you.
It’s not gonna be the same people in your high school, the town that you grew up in.
I didn’t know the area.
I came from somewhere that I grew up my entire life and I knew the surrounding area, I knew all the roads,
I knew everything and now I didn’t know it.
And that was hard at first ’cause I recognized nature in a different place and accepting that beauty of it and really putting yourself in the shoes of others and just saying, this is gonna be okay, it’s gonna be great and accepting that things are gonna be different, but in the end it’s all for the better and you have to do what’s best for you.
You should consider choosing Daemen University because of the options it allows.
I have gotten to know my professors and I’ve gotten to talk with friends and I have a close knit group of people that I care about, but also gotten to make my stamp on the campus already.
At Daemen, you have that ability to say, this is my major, but I want so much more.
I’m gonna have these experiences, I’m gonna have this research, I’m gonna have these friends, you know, whatever it may be.
In the end, you’re doing what you wanna do and you have the ability to say, this is what I want my college experience to be and we can make it happen.
